Sámi : Architecture that leaves no trace in the environment, Students Works Book Edition
Editing, writing, layout, graphic design and redaction of a book presenting the projects of students for a studio at Aalto University.
During the beginning of the year 2022 the multidisciplinary architecture master studio, Interplay of Research and Culture introduced 16 students to Sámi culture. The focus of this course was the thematic area of Global Sustainability and Cultural Locality. The aim was to gain insight on sustainable building solutions and culturally sensitive architecture in indigenous northern cultures context.
As a course assistant I had to entirely design this publication which is the summary of an exploration on the extremely broad and fascinating Sámi cultures from five student groups. It gives diversified insight on what students explored, learned and understood of Sámi culture and building knowledge.
Most of the photographs, except otherwise stated, used in the publication are my own film photographs. They are shot with a B-Still 250 film roll on an Olympus OM1n.
